Join Karl Egeland-Eriksen for a 7-week journey through the geology of the Durham coast through a mix of field trips and indoor sessions.
Course tutor: Karl Egeland-Eriksen
Course length: 7 weekly sessions, 10.30 am-12.30 pm, field trips 10.30 am-3.30 pm.
Course structure: 3x field trips across the North East. Indoor sessions to be held in NHSN's Council Room located on Floor 2 of the Great North Museum: Hancock.
Course cost: £100 NHSN Members / £125 Non-Members
Course content
Suitable for those with a basic knowledge of geology. The first indoor session will cover the geology of Durham Coast and the Permian Magnesian Limestone. The following indoor sessions will look in more detail at the geological events relating to the field trip localities.
Field trips are yet to be finalised but are likely to include Trow Point/Marsden, Easington and Seaham/Blast Beach. Excursions will be generally along well used paths but with occasional short forays over rough ground to view outcrops etc.
