About this Event/Course

We're celebrating National Trust Blossom Week (Mon 26 May to Sun 1 June) with a chance to slow down, connect with nature, and make something beautiful.

In this engaging workshop, you’ll learn traditional hand wiring techniques to craft a crown that celebrates the delicate beauty of spring flowers. Guided step by step, you’ll discover the art of flower crown making, a timeless skill you can return to again and again for festivals, weddings or simply a touch of nature inspired beauty.

The crowns will all be made using materials that will dry beautifully so you can keep them as a wall decoration if you don’t wish to wear them. Whether you choose to wear your crown with pride or hang it on the wall as a floral keepsake, you’ll leave with a piece that’s as unique as you are.

This class is perfect for beginners, though good finger dexterity is helpful. All materials are provided and there’s plenty of space to chat, connect and enjoy the calm, creative atmosphere. Expect to leave with a head full of flowers and a heart full of joy.

Light refreshments will be provided.

Accessibility

This workshop is suitable for beginners of all ages, however, good finger dexterity will be helpful as as some of the tasks—like wiring flowers and securing them tightly—can be quite tricky.

About the Tutor (Julia)

After a varied career, mainly as an artist and a glass maker, Julia decided to re-train as a florist. For over eight years, Julia has run a popular stall at Tynemouth Market. More recently, she has expanded her venture by opening her own flower shop, located at Tynemouth Metro Station. She now also shares her expertise with others through workshops and events like this one.

About the Project

This workshop is facilitated by the Natures Cure in Time of Need: New Voices for North East Nature project, made possible by the generosity of NHSN Members and the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
