Join David Noble-Rollin to explore the identification of the North East's birds during Spring and Summer.
Essential Information

Course length: 10 weekly sessions, 5x indoor sessions, 5x field trips.
Please note that there will be no sessions on 3, 10 & 17 June 2025
Course structure: This is an online course held via Zoom. Please ensure you have the right system requirements for accessing Zoom before booking, as we have a no-refunds policy.

About this course
This course will cover spring migration, bird song and breeding behaviour of species living in the North East. Particular emphasis will be placed on the identification and interpretation of songs, calls and territory.
There will be five field meetings, which will cover a wide range of habitats including visits to woodland areas, hill valleys and the coast.
Indoor meetings will start at 10.00am on Zoom. There will be a break in the middle of the course from Tuesday 3rd to 17th June. Restarting on 24th June.
Attendees will be sent a Zoom link ahead of the first session. If you are new to Zoom, you can find more information about using it on their website here. Information on field trips will be shared in each Zoom session.
Level/Accessibility
Field trips will involve walking a moderate distance over rough or uneven ground. Toilet facilities will not be present at several sites. In the event of poor weather, trips to more remote sites (e.g. Harthope Valley) will be rescheduled.
This is a continuation of a long-running course and is most suitable for those with an existing knowledge of birds. It may be most suitable for those who have attended the course in the past.
Recommended Equipment
Binoculars, waterproofs and sturdy walking boots.
